Founder and President

I founded Venator Partners in 1995. Having been an entrepreneur most of my adult life, I have a passion for working with entrepreneurial companies. Since establishing Venator Partners, I have completed over 200 searches, primarily for small to mid-sized growth companies in the software, digital media/online, and communications industries. I primarily focus on senior-level searches (VP and above) or lead projects in which our firm is recruiting multiple positions in order to help companies scale their businesses. I have also hired dozens of people for the companies I’ve founded and led.

I feel very fortunate to be doing what I love. Throughout my adult life, my intellectual curiosity has been people and human behavior and my passion has been business. There is no business that is more people-centric than the recruiting business. Because people and the companies they work for are all different and very complex, the learning curve never flattens and the topic continues to capture my interest after 20+ years.

My entrepreneurial plunge began in 1987, when I started a stock brokerage firm. I was young and had to learn quickly. I learned two key lessons that permeate everything I do to this day. First, I quickly determined there was a direct connection between our customers and the food that went on my family’s table. I rapidly became and remain obsessive about satisfying customers. The second lesson I learned is to be a successful leader you must hire and retain outstanding people, provide those people with the right environment and the best tools and finally give more credit than you take.

We have gone to great effort to see to it that we hire, retain, and develop outstanding people at Venator Partners and we go to great effort to see to it that our clients do the same.
